When Life Says Stop!

When Life Says Stop!
When Life Says Stop

How do you manage when life says, “Stop?!” The dreams and aspirations I had for 2025 were all on track for the first half of the year. Suddenly, though, in the last half of the year, life screamed stop! Nothing I planned for stayed on track, and a new sort of path demanded my attention. What’s a person to do?

At first, I clung to the hope that ‘this, too, shall pass’ and I could get back on track as soon as my current plight resolved itself. But one thing led to the next thing, led to the next thing. In the blink of an eye, it’s holiday season time, and my entire focus is simply, feeling better and finding a pace that allows me to breathe comfortably. What??!!

Time to Shift

The path I came to in all of this led me to re-examine my priorities. First, it was time to s – l – o – w down. Figuring out what ‘slowing down’ means required me getting out of my head, and back to my heart. It was a roller coaster of frustration, hope, surrendering to limitations, and grasping desperately at every ray of hope that ‘this, too, shall pass.’ Life was saying, “Stop!” And my ambitious desire was saying, “You’ve got this!” Aaaaah! It was too much.

So I surrendered to my persistent physical limitations and redefined what ‘living my dream and following my passions’ meant. My physical limitations were not major in and of themselves, but they came at me one right after the other, and here I am now. Every day there are improvements, and reminders that it’s time to do things at a different pace.

Resolution

I’m still here, doing things at a different pace, and with a different sort of intention. You may notice less frequent communications, but I’m taking it to heart that it’s simply time to approach things from a different space. My passion for writing (and all the paths) is more about putting life into words and less about trying to ‘build a business’ out of it. (What a relief!)

I’ll be around on social media, doing more lurking and quietly sending kind thoughts and love out into the world. Most of my ‘posting’ is going to be on Substack (and my website). If you’d like to follow me on Substack, here’s a link you can use to subscribe (subscription is free).
